mocp return -6 sometimes

$

Hi. I have a question or two. I made a script using `mocp` commands. The script will run `mocp --seek +5` or `mocp --seek -5`, then `mocp --info` immediately to obtain the new values. I can run the seek commands using mouse scrolling. The bug is that if I seek too much, mocp return -6. What does -6 mean... and if it is a bug?

cyrillic letters

Hi,

I have 3 systems running moc.
2 are OK
One has problems with cyrrilic:
the cyrillic text is replaced by # signs.
Midnight Commander does show cyrillic right.

I installed lots of cyrrilic fonts.

Does anyone have an idea what to look for?

Running Debian stable on all 3 systems.

mocp -Q %file fails to execute if filename contains '%' symbol.
In my case it was "%2f" being used instead of '/'.

Streams with non-constant sampling

$

There are radio streams with sampling frequency being switched from time to time: 44.1 -> 48 -> 44.1 and so on. I guess they are not doing resampling and tracks are playing as they are. MOC can not handle these right. After the moment change happened MOC is continuing to play stream with wrong pitch/speed.

playlist does not clear properly

$

to recreate:

add directory to playlist -> a or A
start track -> enter (on playlist item)
clear playlist -> C
(playlist section becomes empty but current song still plays) (this is ok)
add another directory to now "empty" playlist -> a or A

at this point the next song isn't selected only from current playlist but from a playlist composed from the current displayed one and the old cleared one instead, (bug i suppose)

how the next song is started doesn't matter:
end of the current song playng,
starting new song with enter on playlist tab,
changing to next song with n
have the same result, the actual playlist is composed now of old (not shown in playlist tab) and new items (visible)

GPG sig does not verify

$ gpg --verify moc-2.6-alpha3.tar.asc moc-2.6-alpha3.tar.xz gpg: Signature made Wed 16 Nov 2016 02:13:12 AM CET using RSA key ID 2885A7AA gpg: BAD signature from "MOC Release Signing Key"

This despite the fact that the MD5 hashes match those given on moc's website, both for the signature and the source tarball. I have gpg version 1.4.22, while the signature was made with 1.4.10, but that shouldn't be a problem.

MOC throws strange error

I'm running Debian Linux. When I try to start MOC, it throws these errors:
Running the server...
Trying JACK...
Trying ALSA...
mocp: alsa.c:319: alsa_read_mixer_raw: Assertion 'RANGE(0, vol, 100)' failed.

FATAL_ERROR: Server exited!

I'm not sure where it's pointing me to, or whether it's a problem with my system or with MOC

Moc does not open https radio streams. Example: https://radio.2f30.org:8443/live.mp3. It treats the link as the file and problem prevails when run from the m3u file.

What will be the fastest way to get it compiling?

In some cases, MOC prints "TERMINAL TOO SMALL" when it's not

$

0

Steps to reproduce (checked against last stable in an Lubuntu 16.04 LTS live, and against last SVN in a Arch+i3 bleeding edge install):
-----------
1- Open MOC in a terminal window (of a reasonable size, e.g. 80x25).
2- Resize the window to a small size, e.g. 50x20.

Expected result: MOC prints "TERMINAL TOO SMALL"
Observed result: MOC continues working normally (with some visual glitches)

3- Resize the window again to a reasonable size

Expected result: MOC works normally
Observed result: MOC prints "TERMINAL TOO SMALL"

4- If a small window size is done now, the window will start working normally again

In short, after doing a resize operation, MOC checks if the terminal is too small against the old window size, not against the new window size.

NOTE: I suppose that some terminal emulators send multiple resize events during a single resize operation, which could mask the problem. The window resize needs to cause a single resize event (SIGWINCH).

Cause and proposed fix:
-------

In the iface_resize function, check_term_size is called before endwin/refresh:

/* Handle screen resizing. */ void iface_resize () { check_term_size (&main_win, &info_win); validate_layouts (); endwin (); refresh (); main_win_resize (&main_win); info_win_resize (&info_win); iface_refresh_screen (); }

It appears that the variables COLS/LINES, which are checked inside check_term_size, are not updated until the endwin/refresh calls, so check_term_size checks against the old window size values, as observed.

So it appears that check_term_size (and also validate_layouts?) should be moved after the refresh call.

Additional resources:
-------
Here's a minimal test case:

#include <ncurses.h> #include <signal.h> void on_sigwinch(int signum) { int old_lines = LINES, old_cols = COLS; endwin(); refresh(); clear(); printw("Got SIGWINCH\n"); printw("Old values LINES=%d COLS=%d\n", old_lines, old_cols); printw("Current values LINES=%d COLS=%d\n", LINES, COLS); refresh(); } int main() { signal(SIGWINCH, on_sigwinch); initscr(); printw("Resize the window...\n"); refresh(); getch(); endwin(); return 0; }

2.6-a3 needs ffmpeg to see .m4a

2.6-alpha3 won't show any .m4a files if ffmpeg is not among its decoder plugins.

This despite the following configuration in ~/.moc/config :

PreferredDecoders = m4a(aac,*)

and with 'aac' among the decoder plugins configured-in, built and installed.

If this is intended behavior, it should probably be noted in the documentation and/or stock config file, because the examples in the file comments lead me to believe that the Faad2-based AAC decoder plugin should manage the m4a files by itself.

Mocp built from source on:

Linux <localhost> 4.9.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.130-2 (2018-10-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux

GPG sig does not verify

This despite the fact that the MD5 hashes match those given on moc's website, both for the signature and the source tarball. I have gpg version 1.4.22, while the signature was made with 1.4.10, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Softmixer_SaveState doesn't work with jack

2.6-alpha3

moc is ignoring the software mixer volume when using jack and trying to
save it.

If press 'x' (twice for some reason) to turn off the software mixer,
it will save it and load it next time. But this has no effect on the volume.

Alternatively I'd like to start it with a certain volume, but doing mocp -v 65
throws an error that the server isn't running.

Any ideas how I can get a startup or saved volume when using jack?
It works fine with alsa.
